Nigeria’s Stallions have made a flying start to their campaign at the Africa Men’s Sevens Series in Kampala, Uganda, cruising to an impressive 28–5 victory over perennial rivals, the Black Eagles of Ghana.
From the opening whistle, the Stallions came out firing, bringing intensity, pace and relentless pressure to the contest. Nigeria immediately took the game to their opponents, denying Ghana the space and breathing room needed to settle into the match.
The Stallions’ persistence eventually paid off as they converted their dominance into points, producing a high-octane performance that saw them run out comfortable winners.
Nigeria will now turn their attention to Morocco, with their next match scheduled for 12:44.
Morocco will enter the encounter determined to bounce back after suffering a 19–12 defeat to Zimbabwe in their opening fixture. The North Africans will be looking to revive their campaign, while the Stallions will be targeting another crucial victory as they seek to strengthen their position ahead of what promises to be a demanding final group match against Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, in other matches played earlier today, Zambia edged Tunisia 10–7, while hosts Uganda produced a dominant 38–0 victory over Senegal.
With the Stallions already off the mark, all eyes now turn to their showdown with Morocco as Nigeria looks to build momentum and make a strong statement in Kampala.
