When Onuachu left Southampton following the relegation of the club to the Championship, he never imagined that going to Turkey will bring so much attention and honour to his career as it did.
The season may have ended without his club, Trabzonspor winning the Turkish Super Lig, but he can take solace with his personal accomplishments.
Onuachu’s goal contributions despite injuries, contributed to the excelent performance of the club in finishing third behind Galatasaray and Fenerbache.
The lanky striker can however take pride with two prestigious personal awards, winning the Goal of the Year prize and joint highest goalscorer award with 22 goals .
Onuachu’s acrobatic goal against Fatih Karagumruk in September was voted the best goal scored in the Turkish top league this past season.
The giant striker with his back to goal delivered a spectacular overhead kick to put Trabzonspor ahead.
Onuachu may have missed the Turkish Super Lig trophy, there is still hope that next season could be another opportunity for the lanky striker to push for it.
