Kanu,Amunike Headline Legends Playing In Owerri To Honour Henry Nwosu

Friends and former colleagues in the round leather game, will gather in Owerri today, June 5 to pay their last respect to former Green Eagles star, Henry Nwosu.

Nwosu succumbed to the cold hands of deth on March 14 this year in Lagos and friends and former colleagues have been mobilising to pay their last respect and appreciate the good memories he gave Nigerians on the field of play.

After also honouring him in Lagos with a novelty football match, the train now moves to his state Imo, and today at Dan Anyim Stadium at 5pm will be the next bus-stop to celebrate a legend loved for his skills

Those in Imo will have the rare privilege of seeing some of the best talents the country had produced at different times who wore the national jersey when it was fashionable to do so.

Some of those expected in Owerri for the novelty football game include-Friday Ekpo (AFCON ’94 hero), Waidi Akanni, Peter Nieketen,Wahab Haruna (Iwuanyanwu Nationale legend ),  Emmanuel Amuneke (AFCON winner, Olympic gold medalist & Nigerian football icon), Mobi Mobi Oparaku,  Etta Egbe, Kanu Papilo Nwankwo- 2 Time African Footbller of the year, 

Emmauel Ifeanyi Ekwueme, Uche Okechukwu and Eddy Dombraye.

For some persons this is more than a football match, you can tag it a reunion of great talents and celebration of Nigerian football heritage, more so a rare opportunity to watch the heroes who inspired generations of footballers today.
