
The Main Organising Committee of the Gombe Emir’s Cup 2026 has announced the completion of preparations for the final kick-off of the football tournament.
The opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe, by 3:00 p.m.
The competition brings together various Emirates and Chiefdoms from across the state in a unique celebration of football, culture, and community spirit, fostering stronger bonds among the diverse people of Gombe State.
According to the organisers, the tournament is sponsored by the former Chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, as part of efforts to strengthen cordial relationships among football stakeholders and encourage grassroots sports development.
The tournament is organised by GWG Sports Centre under the leadership of Alhaji Gara-Gombe, whose sustained commitment to youth empowerment through sports development has continued to create meaningful opportunities for talented young stars across the state.
“This year’s edition will further consolidate the tournament’s reputation as one of the leading grassroots football competitions in Northern Nigeria, while providing a platform for emerging talents to showcase and pursue professional career in the sport.” Organisers noted.
They also called on football lovers, community leaders, and stakeholders to support the initiative and contribute to its success as a vehicle for social cohesion and youth development.
