Chairman, National Sports Commission,Shehu Dikko, has put definitive numbers to ‘some’ of the disbursements received from the Federal Government of Nigeria by the NFF in the past 12 years, when Amaju Pinnick and Ibrahim Gusau held sway.
While Pinnick was on the saddle from 2014 to 2022, Gusau held sway from 2022 to 2026 when he resigned with few weeks to his re-election bid.
Dikko revealed that “When Amaju was in the the NFF from 2014 to 2022, the entire money the Federal Government gave the NFF was N15bn.
He however said Ibrahim Gusau led board got a one-time check payment of N17bn from the President apart from other fundings.
The NSC Chairman stated that the present Federal Government has given the NFF more than 5 times what the previous government gave in 8 years, which justifies the ongoing reform..
Dikko said “I warned them very clearly — You either do the reforms internally yourselves as required by law or somebody else will have to do it for you. They didn’t heed the advice”.
Shehu Dikko on Arise TV explaining the chaos at the NFF that triggered the new transformation process.
