The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Tambuwal Local Government Area has suffered another major setback following the defection of former Director General, Alhaji Umar Salah, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The ADC stalwart was received into the APC by the Chairman of the Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Umaru Nagwari Tambuwal, with the support of the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Ahmed Ladan Ala, shortly after the new entrant met with Governor Ahmed Aliyu at the Government House on Saturday morning.
According to former Director General Alhaji Salah, his decision to defect to the APC was motivated by the transformative agenda of Governor Ahmed Aliyu across the state.
He said Governor Ahmed Aliyu had done a lot for the state through the execution of various developmental projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the citizenry, hence the need to rally around the Governor and support his administration.
Alhaji Salah, to this end, assured the Governor of his total support, as well as that of his followers, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Responding, Alhaji Umaru Nagwari Tambuwal commended Alhaji Salah for joining the APC and assured him of equal treatment within the party, stressing that there was no discrimination in the APC.
Tambuwal also praised Governor Ahmed Aliyu for exceeding expectations through the execution of laudable projects across the state.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to continue to guide and protect the Governor so that he could sustain his efforts in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has, in the past few months, witnessed the defection of some of its prominent members across the 23 local government areas of the state.
