The Senator representing Abia South, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has lauded the Supreme Court judgment affirming David Mark’s leadership as the authentic faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Abaribe also described the ruling as a defining moment not just for the party, but for Nigeria’s democracy.
The senator said the judgment should be seen beyond just settling internal party disputes, as it reinforces the supremacy of the rule of law and strengthens democratic institutions in the country.
He stated that the verdict represents “a victory for Nigeria and democracy,” at a time when public confidence in political structures and judicial processes is being closely scrutinized.
VDCInsights reports that the Abia South lawmaker commended the judiciary for what he termed a courageous and principled stand, adding that such decisions are critical in safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s multiparty system.
He stressed that the stability of political parties is essential for credible elections, particularly as the nation gradually builds momentum towards the 2027 general elections.
Abaribe, however, cautioned against complacency, while urging members of the ADC, as well as Nigerians at large, not to see the judgment as an endpoint, but rather as a renewed call to action in the broader struggle for good governance, accountability, and national progress.
According to him “This is not just about one party or one office,” he stated. “It is about the future of our democracy and the kind of nation we are determined to build.”
He further called on all factions within the ADC to sheath their swords and rally behind the leadership of David Mark in the interest of unity and progress.
He argued that only through cohesion can the party position itself as a viable alternative, capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s political landscape.
Abaribe while reiterating his belief in collective responsibility, encouraged Nigerians to remain actively engaged in the democratic process, insisting that sustained vigilance and participation are necessary to ensure that the gains of democracy are not eroded.
Abia born senator described the Supreme Court’s decision as both a legal resolution and a moral boost for those committed to the preservation of democratic ideals, and implored Nigerians to remain steadfast in their pursuit of a more just, stable, and prosperous nation.
