Different strokes for different folks, Curaco lost 1-7 in the opening game against Germany, but remained calm while Tunisia lost 1-5 and the centre cannot hold again.

The smallest nation to qualify for the World Cup, Curacao may have taken their 1-7 humiliation by Germany in the spirit of sportsmanship, but certainly not for Africa’s representative, Tunisia .

The Carthage Eagles lost 1-5 to Sweden in their opening game at the mundial, and cannot swallow their pride and remain calm.

The loss has cost their head coach Sabri Lamouchi his job as the North Africans felt humiliated by the result in their opening match of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Tunisian radio station Mosaique FM, Tunisian delegation chiefs requested an emergency meeting to discuss Lamouchi’s future.

Spain-based journalist, Romain Molina confirmed the news via X, writing: “It’s the end for Sabri Lamouchi at the helm of the Tunisian national team.”

The North Africans were outclassed by the Swedes on Sunday night, prompting the Tunisia Football Federation to make the managerial change.

The 54-year-old was appointed Tunisia head coach in January 2026 and handled five matches during his brief spell in charge.

Lamouchi began his tenure with a 1-0 victory over Haiti before leading his team to a goalless draw against Canada.

He then suffered a 1-0 defeat to Austria and a heavy 5-0 loss to Belgium.

The humiliating 5-1 loss to Sweden ultimately proved to be the final straw.

The former African champions managed only one goal and conceded 11 across five matches with the 54-year-old in charge.
