The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced the reshuffling of General Secretaries across some National Sports Federations as part of its internal strategy to strengthen operations and enhance optimal performance.
The Director General of the NSC, Bukola Olopade, announced the changes during a meeting with General Secretaries of the National Sports Federations in Abuja.
The DG commended the secretaries for their professionalism, commitment and personal sacrifices toward the development of Nigerian sports, as well as the support they have continued to provide to the Commission since the appointment of the current leadership of the NSC, led by Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and himself, as DG.
He explained that the latest reshuffling was aimed at further strengthening the administration and operations of the various federations in line with the Renewed Hope vision for sports development.
Olopade said “Let me be clear that no secretary is being removed because he or she has been sacked. They are only being posted to another federation to carry out another assignment. This is how much the Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and I believe in all our secretaries and their professional expertise,” .
He added: “I have always said that the secretaries are the lifeline of our sports. They play a very critical role in the fulfilment of our mandate at the NSC to statutorily regulate and develop sports in the country, in line with the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.”
Under the latest reshuffling, Athletics will have Bunmi Oluode as its new Secretary General, while its former Secretary General, Israel Inwang, has been posted to the Padel Federation.
In Basketball, Rita Mosindi has been appointed Acting Secretary General, while the former Secretary General, Amina Amanchi, has been posted to the Rowing Federation.
Tosin Samuel is the new Secretary General of the Shooting Federation, while Tinuoso Dolapo takes over as Secretary General of the Karate Federation.
Javan Bennard has been assigned as Secretary General of the Fencing Federation, while Dorothy Okpo is the new Secretary General of the Arm Wrestling Federation.
The NSC said the reshuffling is part of its broader efforts to optimize administrative capacity, deploy professional expertise strategically and strengthen the effectiveness of the national sports federations.
