There is a Nupe proverb: “The river that owns four dams should never beg for water.”.
Niger State hosts four dams that power Abuja, but cannot power Minna-Suleja road, cannot light Mokwa, cannot secure Shiroro.
It is the Power State that powers Abuja but cannot power itself.

Senators: Sani Bello (Niger North), Peter Ndalikali Jiya (Niger South), Mohammled Musa (Niger East).
PDP Godfather: Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu (Chief Servant) — Governor 2007-2015, still controls Chanchaga-Minna PDP.
Now PDP BoT Secretary (Adolphus Wabara communiqué, Section 32), but inaugurated Bago Actualization Group for New Niger – multi-party coalition for Bago re-election against his own party’s candidate Muhammad Nami. Double game.
Etsu Nupe: Alh. Yahaya Abubakar, Chairman, Niger State Traditional Council, Spiritual owner of Power State— no Governor wins without Bida.
Speaker: Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji — denying G-15 rebellion in Assembly.
THE IN-FIGHT THAT WILL BURN NIGER:
Daily Trust/Trust Radio reported from Kagara how Bago blew hot: “The people who were part of immediate past administration of Abubakar Sani Bello, including his commissioners and loyalists, are the ones fighting my government… If I like, I will probe him too.” And: “If I press just one button, I could lock them up.”
He reminded all of the probe chain: “Same way Babangida Aliyu probed Kure, and Sani Bello probed Aliyu, if I like I will probe Sani Bello. But I chose to have peace”
Who are they?
The Niger Rescue Movement (NRM) Political Family led by Mikail Al-Amin Bmitosahi, former Chief of Staff to Sani Bello.
On July 16, 2026, former Commissioners dumped APC for ADC en masse. They include: Yusuf Suleiman (Water Resources), Usman Tinau (Finance), Mamman Musa (Works), whose wife Hadiza Idris Kuta is still Commissioner for Women Affairs in Bago cabinet — husband in ADC, wife in APC, that is Niger.
The Bosso 200 Defections:
July 2026, over 200 APC members from Bosso LGA led by same Mamman Musa defected to ADC. Highest number of 70 were from Maitumbi ward.
They said:”We are tired of one man government”.
Former Assistant Treasurer Audu Ibrahim and Reps aspirant Adamu Ango Ibrahim (Jakadan Noman Minna coordinator) joined.
The Foundation Member Exit:
October 19, 2026, Hon. Jonathan Tsado Vatsa, founding APC publicity secretary 2015, Commissioner under Sani Bello, resigned from APC and dispatched a letter to Gulu Angwa-Gulu Vasta ward. Vatsa now says: “This APC government has degenerated beyond what we accused PDP of doing 12 years ago. Bago recruited political liabilities.”
He cited IBB Specialist Hospital remodelling from N11.8bn to N18.2bn, still uncompleted.
The Senate Primary War in Niger South:
No primary held, says Senator Mohammed Bima, senatorial aspirant. Sani Idris Kutigi declared winner. Bima petitioned national leadership. Result: Bima’s allies Muhammad Nami and Mohammed Ndarani Mohammed left APC. Nami is now PDP Governorship candidate (won August 29, 2026). Ndarani is now SDP Governorship candidate with Japhet Pada Samson as running mate.
APC split into three governorship candidates from one senate primary.
The Assembly G-15: Rumour of 15 House members considering exit over return ticket. Speaker Sarkin-Daji denies, but insiders say Lapai, Bida, Lavun, Mokwa councillors already gone.
Bago’s answer? He created 550-member Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council, led by former Deputy Governor Ahmed Musa Ibeto as DG, with Tanko Beji, ex-PDP State Chairman who defected to APC August 2026, as Deputy DG.
Beji spent 12 years telling people not to trust APC, now asking them to trust it.

Security Tracker January 2026: Niger recorded 54 fatalities — highest in Nigeria. Borgu 43 killed January 3 — bandits crossing from Kebbi-Kainji Lake. Bago’s response? Why? Niger has 3 Emirates (Bida, Kontagora, Suleja) + 5 chiefdoms. If police splits by throne, who commands Shiroro?

ADC tells farmers: “Niger needs grinding machine today, not railway tomorrow.”
5 — The Minna Generals’ Factor: Minna is retired Generals’ town — IBB, Abdulsalami live there. When IBB sneezes in Minna, Bago catches cold in Government House. Bago’s agric revolution launched with IBB as Father of Day. But Generals are quite because their boys – Bello boys are now in ADC. Minna journalists are being courted with “Bago spends big, but where is safe road?”.

Since January 2026, old videos of Shiroro attacks — 2022 Galadima, 2024 Allawa IDP camp — recirculated on WhatsApp/TikTok as “Borgu 43 killed yesterday” or “Shiroro 30 killed today.” Minna journalists confirm 70% of videos in Suleja-Minna corridor are old clips with new dates.
ADC youths share to say “Bago failed,” APC youths share old tractor videos to say “We are safe.” Both fake.
Bago must create Power State Fact-Check Desk under Information Ministry, with Etsu Nupe Palace and Generals as validators. Every killing needs date, LGA, police confirmation within 6 hours. One fake Shiroro video costs 10,000 votes in Suleja.
WHO HAS UPPER HAND TODAY?
On Paper — APC 90%:
Bago + flag + 22 LGAs + 550-member council led by Ahmed Musa Ibeto with Tanko Beji (ex-PDP chairman defected August) as Deputy DG.
On Ground — ADC 40% momentum:
Suleja-Minna youth, okada, miners in Shiroro, IDPs in Borgu very angry. Plus Rescue Movement strategy and now grieving mining families.
Shadow — Babangida Aliyu double.
In Bida Palace, the Etsu Nupe, Alh. Yahaya Abubakar is in charge 100%: No win without Bida.
But Bida councillors defected: a warning.
HOW TO CONTAIN —EIGHT POINTS
- Own the Corridor, Not the Flag: Lambata-Lapai-Abuja and Minna-Bida-Mokwa corridors need Operation Power State Safe Corridor.
- State Police — Approve with Balance: Pass it but create Power State Community Policing Law that balances Bida, Kontagora, Suleja, Minna.
- Convert Tractors to Grinding Machines: Distribute 5,000 grinding machines before Feb 2027, with Etsu Nupe flagging off.
- Dam Dividends: Demand Power State Derivation Fund like NDDC oil derivation.
- Flag-Off in Minna, Not Kaduna: Next flag-off must be Bida or Minna Trade Fair Complex, with Etsu Nupe on high table, IBB as Father of Day.
- Contain Fake Videos: Create Power State Fact-Check Desk — old Shiroro videos recirculated.
- Media Buffer: Monthly briefing for Generals, not just press release.
- Mining Justice: visit families of 33 dead Miners, support N1.4 billion compensation, demand licensed Marshals, not NSCDC raids. Turn tragedy to trust or ADC will own Shiroro youths.
FINAL JUDGMENT:
Bago has structure — flag, tractors, dams, IBB blessing, Babangida Aliyu rainbow coalition.
But structure leaked with Sani Bello boys to ADC, and now 33 bodies in Minna cell.
If Bago converts 54 deaths + 33 cell deaths to 87 safe villages, he wins.
If he converts Kaduna flag to Minna flag with Etsu Nupe and pays miners’ families, he wins.
If not, Rescue Movement will rescue Niger from him — with Kutigi primary, Talban double game, and NSCDC cell as evidence.
That is Power State dilemma
