MDPCO Knocks Tinubu, Declares ‘Pharaoh Cannot Lead Nigeria To Promised Land’

The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) has accused President Bola Tinubu of worsening economic hardship, insecurity and democratic decline in Nigeria.

The Campaign Organisation likened President Tinubu to the biblical Pharaoh, who cannot lead Nigeria and Nigerians to the Promised Land

In a press statement made available to VDCInsights dated October 21, 2026, and signed by its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Ihediwa, the organisation argued that Tinubu’s recent reference to Egypt had reinforced public perceptions of his administration as oppressive.

The MDPCO said the President’s handling of the country’s economic challenges showed insufficient responsiveness to the suffering of Nigerians, warning against extending his tenure beyond 2027.

The organisation declared, “Of course, Pharaoh cannot lead to a Promised Land,” insisting that Nigerians were seeking relief from what it described as years of economic hardship and poor governance.

It listed rising food prices, transportation costs, rents, unemployment and pressure on the healthcare system among the challenges confronting households across the country.

The organisation also criticised increases in tuition fees at federal tertiary institutions and the reliance on student loans, arguing that the policies had made access to higher education more difficult for students from low-income families.

Drawing a comparison with the free education legacy associated with the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the MDPCO accused the APC leadership of abandoning the educational ideals it claimed to uphold.

On security, the campaign organisation accused the Federal Government of failing to adequately protect citizens from banditry, terrorism and kidnapping, alleging that attacks on communities, schools, places of worship and highways had heightened public anxiety.

The MDPCO further expressed concern over what it described as a decline in democratic accountability, the rule of law and respect for citizens’ rights, citing the 2026 Human Rights Foundation Tyranny Tracker.

Against this backdrop, the organisation presented the presidential ambition of Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Seyi Makinde, as an alternative to the Tinubu administration.

It said Makinde’s proposed RESET NIGERIA Agenda would focus on inclusive governance, transparency, accountability, improved national security, economic productivity and a more efficient public service.

The organisation also claimed that more than 103 million Nigerians had registered to participate in the 2027 general elections, describing the figure as evidence of growing public interest in the country’s political future.

It urged Nigerians to support Makinde’s candidacy, arguing that a change in leadership was necessary to address the country’s economic and security challenges.

The MDPCO maintained that the 2027 election would provide Nigerians with an opportunity to determine a new direction for the country.
