MDPCO Calls for EFCC Probe Into Alleged Bribery For Ministerial Appointments

The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate allegations that serving ministers paid billions of naira to secure their appointments under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The organisation’s demand follows a reported television appearance by Alwan Hassan, identified as a spokesperson for the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council, who allegedly claimed that ministers paid substantial sums to obtain their positions and were seeking to recoup their investments.

In a press statement dated October 27, 2026, and signed by its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Nnanna Ihediwa, the MDPCO expressed concern over what it described as the Presidency’s silence on the allegation, five days after the purported revelation.

The campaign organisation argued that the allegation raised serious questions about transparency in ministerial appointments and the integrity of public office, insisting that the matter required an independent investigation rather than being allowed to fade from public attention.

It called on the EFCC to establish the veracity of the claims, identify anyone found to be involved and ensure that appropriate legal action is taken where evidence of wrongdoing exists.

The MDPCO also criticised the Tinubu administration over what it described as worsening insecurity, economic hardship and inadequate infrastructure, arguing that allegations of financial impropriety among public officials could further undermine public confidence in government.

It warned against allowing the controversy to be swept aside without clarification, maintaining that accountability was essential to restoring trust in public institutions.

The organisation further urged Nigerians not to lose confidence in the country as preparations for the 2027 presidential election gather momentum.

It presented the proposed four-year RESET NIGERIA Agenda of the APM presidential candidate, Engineer Seyi Makinde, and his running mate, Lawal Daura, as an alternative, promising transparency, accountability, national unity and improved public service delivery.

The MDPCO called on Nigerians to support the APM in the forthcoming election, saying the country needed leadership committed to integrity, effective governance and the welfare of citizens.

The organisation reiterated its demand for an independent investigation, stressing that anyone found culpable in the alleged appointment bribery scandal should be held accountable under the law.
