Despite the pressure and provocation you have faced over the past seven years to fight back, you have consistently chosen the path of maturity, restraint and responsible statesmanship.
As you have often said, some people were hoping and expecting that what happened in Rivers State would eventually happen in Bayelsa State. But you made a promise that you would disappoint those who were waiting for such an outcome, and you have remained true to your word.
Leadership is not always about reacting to every provocation. Sometimes, true strength is the ability to remain calm, focused and principled even when others expect you to lose your composure.
Your restraint has demonstrated the character of an elder statesman who understands that political disagreements should not destroy the peace, unity and stability of the people.
Thank you, His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, for choosing the path of maturity, wisdom and statesmanship. You made a promise, and you have kept it. May history remember this period not only for the challenges you faced, but also for the restraint and leadership with which you handled them.
