Reactions have continued to trail the appointment of former Chairman of Owan West Local Government Council as Special Adviser to Governor Monday Okpebholo on Grassroots Sports Mobilization.
Ilaboya, was former Edo State FA Chairman, former Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter and Executive Director of the Edo State Sports Commission before his latest appointment.
Many has described his appointment as a perfect fit by Governor Okpebholo given Ilaboya’s experience in sports and administration.
The Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, and the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele lauded the Governor for his choice of Ilaboya
In a separate congratulatory messages made available to VDCInsights, both Afegbua and Enabulele reasoned along the same wave-length that Gov.Okpebholo made the right choice in Ilaboya to take charge of grassroots sports Mobilization.
Afegbua said Ilaboya has been in sports all his years, and described the appointment as a fitting one.
According to him “I can’t think of five to ten Edo persons in sports development without the name of Ilaboya coming up. This is a good decision by His Excellency” .
On his part, Enabulele acknowledged Ilaboya’s contributions during his time at the Edo Sports Commission as the Executive Director (Edo North).
He said “Ilaboya as a member of the Edo State Sports Commission is leaving an indelible mark of achievements behind and I can attest to his contributions towards developing sports in the state.”
Enabulele stated “This appointment by His Excellency is another great opportunity to tap more from his vast knowledge of grassroots sports”.
