The result of bad selection, low energy, lack of enthusiasm and failure to take risks earned the Wild Dogs of Guines another famous vitory against the Super Eagles on Tuesday in an AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
The Wild Dogs had boasted before the match that their 1-0 victory against the Super Eagles in 2023 in Nigeria was not a fluke, in addition to dismissing the Europe based stars paraded by the Super Eagles as inconsequential.
The Super Eagles will undoubtedly blame the state of the pitch at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau for their loss but the truth remains they were not good on the day.
From the starting line-up to the approach to the early, especially in the game before they conceded the first goal, the Eagles did not look like a team burning with hunger after missing the 2026 world cup.

The goal seems to be the wake up call for the Super Eagles who fought to bring themselves into the game but despite having possession for most of the half, Ademola Lookman, Akor Adams and Taiwo Awoniyi failed to make good use of the services provided by Alex Iwobi.
On resumption of play in the second half, the Super Eagles faded away while Guinea Bissau grew in confidence and dominated proceedings and deservedly got the second goal in the 66th minute through Mama Balde, who practically strolled past the Super Eagles central defence and shot into the far right of the post for their second goal.
Tolu Arokodare came in for Ademola Lookman, George Ilenikhena replaced Akor Adams, Moses Usor came in for Frank Oyeaka and Simon Moses for captain Wilfred Ndidi.
But the changes made by coach Eric Chelle did not make any impact, it was obvious he did not put out his best starting 11 forward.
As the Eagles struggle to find a winning formula, Alvaro Djalo added the third in stoppage time.
Guinea Bissau now top group L with six points while the Super Eagles have three points and must win their next set of games to stand a chance of qualifying.
