The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election after securing victory in all 16 local government areas of the state.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, announced the result in the early hours of Sunday at the State Collation Centre in Ado-Ekiti.

According to the final results released by INEC, Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 40,533 votes. Declaring the result, Prof. Oladiji said the APC candidate met all constitutional requirements and was therefore duly elected for another term in office.

INEC disclosed that the state had 988,251 registered voters, out of which 384,940 were accredited to vote. A total of 382,109 votes were cast during the election, while 375,777 were deemed valid.

The governor recorded a dominant performance across the state, winning in all 16 local government areas, including Efon LGA, the home council of the PDP candidate.

In Efon LGA, Oyebanji secured 8,742 votes against Oluyede’s 2,051 votes, while the ADC candidate polled 201 votes.

The APC candidate also posted impressive figures in key councils, including Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area, where he received 38,026 votes, and Irepodun/Ifelodun LGA, where he garnered 29,278 votes.

The outcome further strengthens the APC’s political dominance in Ekiti State and hands Oyebanji a fresh four-year mandate to continue his administration.

The election was largely characterized by the governor’s overwhelming lead across the state, leaving his opponents trailing by significant margins in virtually every local government area.
