This is one death too many, coming shortly after the death of Chief Festus Adegboye Onigbinde a few days earlier..

The football family in Nigeria has been thrown into mourning again with the news of the demise of former Super Eagles star, Henry Nwosu.

Nwosu who was the youngest member of the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations winning squad in Lagos passed on this morning, March 14,2026.3.14

A member of the Super Eagles cLass of 1980, Segun Odegbami broke the news this morning.

Odegbami said “After 5 days in hospital battling for his life, the one I call ‘Youngest Millionaire’ passed on at 4:00 am this morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos where he had been in Intensive Care since Wednesday.”

He added “It is with deep pain in my heart that I have to be the conveyor of the news of the death of Henry Nwosu MON, the youngest of the victorious 1980 AFCON squad”.

”May he rest peacefully with our Creator in Heaven.”

Nwosu played for the Flying Eagles and Super Eagles and also had a stint with the Golden Eaglets.
