Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia Lead National Teams With Most Outings In 2025

Morocco led eight other African teams to stand out among the top eleven national teams that played the highest number of matches in year ending 2025.

Among the top 11 teams with the highest number of international matches in 2025 are Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Senegal. Nigeria, DR Congo, Oman, Tunisia, Uganda and the United States of America complete the top 11.

The teams listed had their calendar packed with schedule in continental competitions, world cup qualifiers, and friendly fixtures.

According to data available, Morocco topped the chart with 26 matches, the highest by any national team in 2025, followed by Algeria with 23 matches, Saudi Arabia and Sudan each played 20 games, with Senegal playing 19 fixtures during the year.

Nigeria played a total of 18 matches in 2025, placing them in the same bracket as DR Congo, Oman, Tunisia, Uganda, and the United States.

Burkina Faso, Guatemala, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, followed with each recording 17 appearances.

The high number of matches also highlights the growing intensity of the international football calendar, raising discussions around player workload, squad rotation, and injury management for national teams across Africa and beyond.

Nigeria’s demanding schedule was largely influenced by AFCON 2025 commitments, World Cup qualification fixtures, and international friendly matches, giving the technical crew ample opportunity to assess players and build team cohesion.
