Nigerians Don’t Know Nnamdi Kanu True Identity

In what appears to be an irony of fate, those outside see Nnamdi Kanu as a trouble maker, while those in prison with him or around him see him as a leader.

President, National Association of Nigerian Students, Comrade Atiku Isa told VDCInsights that the Namdi Kanu he met at the DSS Custody was a leader and not a terrorist as alleged by the government.

Comrade Isa, who shared his prison experience with Kanu argued that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra was too fearless, courageous and a leader.

The NANS Leader said most people within the facility always ran to Kanu for succour and support whether christians or muslims or whether from the North or the south.

He stated that the two months he stayed at the DSS facility afforded him an opportunity to assess Kanu at close quarters and came to the conclusion that people were wrong about him.

Comrade Isa argued ‘ The Nnamdi Kanu I saw in DSS facility, cannot be the same person people talk about as if he is a demon’

‘I can tell you categorically, people love Nnamdi Kanu, even in prison, but those who hate him, cannot stand his boldness and fearlessness, he asserted.

The NANS leader stated without equivocation that ‘Nnamdi Kanu that I saw is not a terrorist, but a fearless young Nigerian, who wants the good of his people”

There has also been reports online alleging that a prison guard at the Sokoto Correctional facility had said Nnamdi Kanu is a leader and a very wise man, who should not be in that prison.

The report also quoted the prison guard as saying “Every time I speak with him, I feel like I am speaking with a man far ahead of this generation. This is not a criminal, this is a leader. Nigeria is holding the wrong man in prison.”

Nnamdi Kanu was on November 20 sentenced to life imprisonment for terrorism by Justice James Omotosho, and has 90 days to appeal the judgment.
