NPFL MD 4: Enyimba Record Only Away Win, As Plateau Utd Down Remo Stars

The People’s Elephant Enyimba International won the only game on the road on match day 4 with a 2-0 victory against host, Bayelsa United.

The victory came of the boots of Chidera Michael in the 76th minute and Kalu Nweke in the 85th.

In Umuahia, under pressure Abia Warriors needed a solitary strike from Somiari Alalibo in the 51st minute to pocket all three points.

Before the game, Abia Warriors had only picked three points from a maximum of nine, and desperately needed the win.

In Benin, Bendel Insurance had all three points in a hard fought battle against Niger Tornadoes, and thanks to substitute Israel Emmanuel who reacted quickest during a goal mouth melee to poke home the winner.

Like in Umuahia, where Abia Warriors were in dire need of a win, Kano Pillars also heaved a sigh of relief at the Sani Abacha Stadium, as Ahmed Musa produced a moment of class in the 65th minute, to give the Sai Masu Gida faithful something to celebrate.

In Lafia, Garba Mohammed delivered the decisive strike to hand Nasarawa United victory over in-form Wikki Tourists, and in Jos. Plateau United stunned table-topping Remo Stars 2–0, courtesy of goals from Tarabina Biweribo and Mafeng Pam, a result that lifted them off the bottom of the table into 18th place.

Shooting Stars (3SC) are now bottom of the table after the Oluyole Warriors slumped to a 1–0 defeat in Port Harcourt, as Ubong Friday’s 72nd-minute winner for Rivers United drew Rivers level with Enyimba at the top of the standings.

In Imo State, newly promoted Kun Khalifat finally gave their fans reason to celebrate winning comfortably 3–1 against El Kanemi Warriors.

A brace from Ebuka Nwokorie in the (34th and 56th), with Onuorah Onyedika adding the gloss in the 48th minute, gave the Owerri side all three points. El Kanemi got a consolatory goal off the boot of Ebuka Okoro in the 47th-minute.

In other results Ikorodu City recorded their first win of the season with defeat of Barau FC 2-0 while in Warri, Warri Wolves were held to a goalless draw by Kwara United.
