Abuja will once again play host to another national convention after serving as venue for that of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
This time, the Nation’s Capital will be playing host to the National Convention of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP between March 29 and 30, 2026.
Conducting a last minute inspection of the venue of the convention in Abuja, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike said PDP will shock Nigerians at 2027 General Elections, though he did not explain in which way.
Wike dismissed the appeal filed by the Tanimu Turaki faction at the Supreme Court as not serious enough to stop holding the PDP Convention.

He argued that the appeal cannot stop the convention, pointing out that “reconciliation was already in progress and will continue after the convention”
Speaking after inspecting the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome, venue of the convention, the Minister said they were already reaching out to aggrieved members to work together ahead of 2027 general elections
Wike was accompanied by Chairman of the National Convention Planning Committee, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), Mohammed Abdulrahman, National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu and other party leaders
