Trabzonspor Defeat Galatasaray To Blow Open Turkish League

The Turkish Super Lig has been thrown wide open thanks to Trabzonspor’s 2-1 victory over reigning champions Galatasaray.

VDCInsights reports that Trabzonspor’s victory over leaders Galatasaray was masterminded by the Nigerian boys on show.

Fatih Tekke has his Nigerian contingent to thank for his side’s hard fought 2-1 victory over Okan Buruk’s team.

Rave of the moment, Paul Onuachu opened the scoring inside the first three minutes of kickoff.

The Nigerian striker consolidated his place at the top of the scorers’ chart with his twenty first goal of the campaign.

Chibuike Nwaiwu, the newly invited Super Eagles defender got the winning goal of the game off an assist from former Nigerian international Anthony Nwakaeme following Wilfried Singo’s equalizer three minutes after the restart.

While Galatasaray couldn’t call on their Nigerian import due to injury, Trabzonspor unleashed theirs as they close the gap on the leaders.

The victory is the sixth consecutive in the league for Fatih Tekke’s side and it takes them to just within a point of Galatasaray who have a game in hand.

The title race is now wide open again after it seemed like Galatasaray were cruising to the defence of their title just a couple weeks ago.
