Super Eagles Captain, Ekong Retires From International Football Ahead Of AFCON

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has announced his retirement from international football with days to kick off of the AFCON in Morocco.

Ekong who announced his retirement from international football via a stateemnt may likely continue with his club career. 

The Dutch born Nigeria’s sudden retire may not be unconnected with the strike by Super Eagles just before the world cup play offs. 

There are insinuation that the Federation felt betrayed by Ekong and were not ready to let go without taking their pound of flesh. 

Many argued that Ekong not seeing action during the play offs was a pointed to the backlash of the strike and having read the handwriting decided to call it quits with his international career.
