All roads lead to the prestigious Lagos Country Club this evening as the 6th edition of the annual Sportsville Special Recognition Award gets underway in Lagos.
The ceremony, to be Chaired by one of the most respected sports personalities in Africa, and founder Brila Media, Dr Larry Izamoje, promises to be another thrilling gathering of sports bigwigs under one roof.
A total of 20 awardees will be honoured in 7 categories.
In the Icon Category, the duo of Kwame Arthur and Chuka Momah will receive honors while Hon Itiako Ikpokpo and Hon Wahid Oshodi will be decorated with the Sports Personalities of the Year award. The National Sports Commission Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, will be decorated with the prestigious Sports Transformative Impact Award
Other awardees to be honoured on the night are Dr Femi Bankole Alibay and Bambo Akani in the Creative and Innovative Category, Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele in the Visionary Leadership Category while the CAF Safety Officer and former basketball player and Administrator, Dr Christian Emeruwa and Felix Akiga will smile home with the Achievers Award respectively.
In the Special Recognition Category, the Nasarawa State Attorney General, Barr Isaac Danladi, will lead other sports personalities to receive their awards!
They are foremost Athletics announcer, golden voice Akin Afolarin, Edo State Football Association Chairman, Fred Newton Erhunwunse, Dr Toyin Aluko and Fausat Dehinde Yekini. The initiator of Let’s Do It Again, Toyosi Oyetunji, will also join the elite group of awardees.
The Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo will receive the Best Facilities award (government category) while Eagles Wings FC Sports Complex will go home in the private sector category.
The award ceremony comes up by 6pm with red carpet kicking off 30 minutes earlier.
Sportsville Award was initiated six years ago as a means of celebrating and rewarding those in the forefront of sports development in Nigeria.
