Nigerian fans are more worried than ever before after South Africa and Benin Republic both picked three points from their matches on Friday.
The Bafana Bafana victory against Lesotho was particularly more painful for Nigerian fans as it stretched the Rainbow country’s lead to nine points ahead of the Super Eagles clash against Rwanda on Saturday, September 6 in Uyo, and the crucial encounter against South Africa in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
The frustartion for Nigerians took a new twist with South Africa humbling Lesotho 3-0 and Benin Republic edging out Zimbabwe 1-0 in Abidjan,
Following the results of Friday games in group C South Africa now has 16 points and top the group, while Benin Republic amassed 11 points and second in the group..
Nigeria, by contrast, remain on just seven points. Even if the Super Eagles beat Rwanda, they would still be stuck in third place behind Bafana Bafana and Benin Republic.
The result against Rwanda and South Africa next Tuesday will determine whether the Super Eagles will make it to 2026 mundial or not.
