Sokoto Govt Set To Tackle Unemployment, End Youth Restiveness

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu has set up a nine-member committee to oversee the recruitment of  qualified indigenes into the state’s civil service.

This development is in a bid to reduce unemployment and youth restiveness,twin factors that contribute to rising issue of informants syndrome and worsening insecurity in the state.

The Committee’s terms of reference include- To develop criteria for selecting qualified candidates to fill existing vacancies in the state’s MDAs, To collate and examine applications and shortlist candidates,To conduct interviews and assessments of candidates to determine eligibility,To recommend eligible candidates for recruitment and To submit a report within one month from the date of the committee’s appointment.

Members of the committee are led by Jelani Kalgo as Chairman, Gandi Umar Mohammed as member/Secretary, Amb.Sahabi Isa Gada, Bature Shinkafi and Muh’d Bello Nagwari.

Others are Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof Ladan Ala, Commissioner for Health, Dr Faruk Wumo, Permanent Secretaries of Civil Service Commission, and that of Local Govt Service Commission.
