Senators Akobundu, Tambuwal, Umeh, Six others Shun APC Join ADC


The Senate on Thursday confirmed the defection of nine senators from three political parties to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while the tenth senator joined the newly formed Nigeria Democratic Congress.

VDCInsights reports that the senators dumped their former parties to embrace African Democratic Congress with the greatest losers being the People’s Democratic Party,PDP.

Ironically,none of the defecting senators considered the ruling All Progressive Congress good enough, unlike the Governors,who are all defecting to the APC.

The PDP lost five senators,the Labour Party 3 senators and the All Progressive Grand Alliance,APGA lost one in senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe representing Abia South.

Among those whose letters of defection were read during plenary session on Thursday are:

1. Senator Austin Akobundu (Abia Central) – from PDP to ADC

2.  Senator Ireti Kingibe (FCT) – from LP to ADC

3. Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo (Nasarawa South) – from PDP to ADC

4. Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto South) – from PDP to ADC

5. Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe (Adamawa South) – from PDP to ADC

6. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South) – from APGA to ADC

7. Senator Victor Umeh (Anambra Central) – from LP to ADC

8. Senator Tony Nwoye (Anambra North) – from LP to ADC

9. Senator Lawal Adamu Usman (Kaduna Central) – from PDP to ADC 

10. Senator Seriake Dickon (Bayelsa West) joined the newly formed Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC
