The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has released the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections with the Presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on February 20.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan who disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja said Governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls will hold on March 6, 2027.
The INEC Chairman called on the political parties to conduct peaceful and credible primaries, assuring Nigerians that the Commission was determined to deliver elections that will reflect the wishes of the people.
INEC Official Timeline for 2027 General Elections
Party Primaries: July 1 – September 30, 2026
(Political parties will select their candidates during this period.)
Submission of Candidates to INEC: October 1 – October 31, 2026
Publication of Final List of Candidates: November 15, 2026
Campaign Periods
Presidential & National Assembly Campaigns:
November 18, 2026 – February 19, 2027
Governorship & State Assembly Campaigns:
December 15, 2026 – March 5, 2027
