Presidential Candidate, Olalere Expresses Confidence in NSC to Uphold True Governance Structure in Gymnastics Election*

The Gymnastics Community across the country says it stands firmly behind the National Sports Commission to enforce strict adherence to the electoral guidelines into boards of Sports Federations, including in the Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria.

The community says it has been following closely the developments around the Federation’s leadership election, and want the NSC to enthrone transparency and accountability in the whole process.

A Presidential candidate at the forthcoming election, Omowunmi Olalere said after the National Sports Commission (NSC) flawed the process that denied four constituencies their voting rights and called for  a smooth and transparent election on October 18, 2025, some individuals are said to be mounting pressure on the Commission so that the right things are not done.

Olalere noted that this has created serious confusion and uncertainty and risks undermining trust in the process.

She argued that the NSC’s decision to uphold fairness and ensure an all inclusive election gave hope to athletes, Ccoaches, and administrators committed to the growth of Gymnastics.

The presidential candidate therefore urged the NSC to stand firm because they have been on the path of justice and fairness and their bold decisions in times like this, will set a new precedent that will positively change the trajectory of Federation elections forever in Nigeria.

Olalere said there should not be reversal of the October 18, 2025 Gymnastics Election, pointing out that “Any attempt to change this course would call into question the credibility of the Electoral process and further disenfranchise legitimate stakeholders.”

She further call on the National Sports Commission to provide clarity, and ensure the principles of transparency and equity are fully respected., stressing that” Nigerian gymnastics deserves a credible and widely accepted leadership transition.”
