“Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen’s high-profile transfer from Napoli to Turkish giants Galatasaray has been ranked the most expensive move outside Europe’s top five leagues: the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1.

According to SportingSun, citing Turkish outlet Nexus Spor, the total value of the deal stands at €80 million, placing Osimhen’s transfer behind only Neymar Jr.’s €90 million move to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal in terms of global transfers outside Europe’s elite competitions.

The agreement between Napoli and Galatasaray was finalised on Sunday and includes several key components: an €80 million transfer fee, a two-year restriction clause preventing the sale of Osimhen to any Italian club, and a 10% sell-on clause in favour of Napoli.

Though the headline figure is €75 million, Galatasaray will initially pay €40 million this summer, with the remaining €35 million to be paid in structured installments over the next 12 to 18 months.

The Nigerian striker is now poised to become the third-highest-paid footballer this summer, behind only Florian Wirtz, who moved to Liverpool for €125 million, and Hugo Ekitike, reportedly completing a €95 million transfer.

The sell-on clause entitles Napoli to 10% of any future transfer fee. For instance, if Galatasaray sells Osimhen for €100 million in the future, Napoli would receive an additional €10 million, ensuring they profit from the player’s potential market growth.

Osimhen’s blockbuster move marks a new chapter in his career and underscores the growing spending power and ambition of clubs outside the traditional European powerhouses.”
