There were lots of activities yesterday at the Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja as the 20th Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Games entered Day 5 today.
There was competition in volleyball, tennis, squash, table tennis, scrabble, chess and swimming.
But of all the venues, the Olympic size swimming pool was the centre of attraction as spectators representing different companies cheered their stars endlessly.
The atmosphere was charged and the athletes gave their all in their bid for medals and glory.
In swimming Meghan Perry representing NLNG won gold in the 50 metres women’s breaststroke event.

She returned a time of 1.05secs.
She was closely followed by Anita Adu of NNPC while Ugochi Akwiwu of NNPC finished third.
In the men’s 50 m breaststroke, Henrik Smith of NLNG finished first, Boyo Joseph of Chevron placed second while Jesufemi Dayo-Odukoya of NNPC won bronze.
Pretty Newton of NCDMB finished first in 50metres Butterfly in the women’s category. Cherish Ofeoritse of NLNG finished second while Edevuya Ekanem of NNPC took the bronze.
There were also winners in men’s 50 meters butterfly, medley relay, backstroke, freestyle both men and women, and the veterans categories.
Overall, at the end of the swimming event yesterday, NLNG placed first with 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
NCDMB finished second in the swimming medal table with 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal while OANDO place third in the table with 3 gold and 3 silver. NNPC, Chevron and NMDPRA finished among the top 6.
In volleyball, teams that qualified for the quarter finals will square up to determine who progresses to the semi finals today.
Team NNPC will take on NLNG, NUPRC takes on NMDPRA while TotalEnergies will compete against Shell. The last quarter final match will see Aradel will clash with Renaissance.
In tennis, Salami Babs of Renaissance defeated Joshua Bok of NNLG 6/4, 7/6. Ufia Fabian of ExxonMobil lost to Victor Bull of Oando 0/6 0/6, while Obende Omera of Seplat defeated Lanre Akinwumi of NMDPRA 6/2, 6/3 as Kazeem AbdulFatai of PTI lost to Aladei Pius 4/6, 1/6.
