NFF, NSC ‘Cold War’ Threaten Super Eagles 2026 WC Ticket

Nigeria’s ambition to hoist its flag at the 2026 World Cup seems to be under threat over seeming irreconciliable differences between the Ntaional Sports Commission and the Nigeria Football Federation

The body language of the NFF seems not to be in sync with that of the NSC, a development the football house feels could derail the country’s world cup qualification.

The seeming sour relationship stems from the Federation’s alleged plans by the NSC top officials to run the show for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) even during the 2026 World Cup qualifications.

First ZealMediaCast alleged that ‘the NFF has put all fingers wrong since the start of the campaign to reach the 2026 World Cup finals with ill-advised appointment of coaches, late call ups of players and their failure to pay players allowances and bonuses on time.’

The crucial meeting convened by the NSC will discuss the Super Eagles journey to the 2026 World Cup finals that is under threat now with four must win games against Rwanda, South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe remaing.

The Flying Eagles final build up to the World Youth Championship in Chile next month alongside the WAFU B U-17 Championship to be hosted in Abeokuta will also be considered at the meeting.

While the NFF seems not comfortable with the actions of the NSC on the management of its activities ,including the recent victory and reception for the Super Falcons, the Commission seems oblivious of the problem.
