NFF Open To New Salary Of N150m Monthly For Chelle

There are strong indications that the Nigeria Football Federation is disposed to working with Eric Chelle as Super Eagles gaffer, despite not meeting the initial targets set for him by the Federation.

The NFF had given Chelle the targets of qualifying the Super Eagles for the 2026 mundial and reaching the finals of last year’s AFCON, none of which was achieved.

While the Eagles crashed out in the semi final of the AFCON, they also failed to cross the continental play off for the world cup, losing to DR Congo on penalties.

VDCInsights, however, learnt that the Federation has decided to double Chelle’s monthly salary from $50,000 to $100,000( about N150m) .

Chelle had in his 19-point demand to continue as Super Eagles coach asked for $130,000 monthly salary since he will continue to foot the bills of his hand picked assistants.

  • Some other demands include: accommodation in a very secured place with 24-hour electricity, a private SUV with a chauffeur, business-class flights for his wife and two children.free hand to call up players and make selections, improved security,  implementation of youth development programs and authority to monitor players abroad, and a furnished office with a projector and specialized equipment..

Not many Nigerians are in agreement with the demands of Chelle, even his massive wage demand on the basis of his failure to secure the world cup ticket or win the AFCON.

The Franco-Malian coach has a contract until January 2027 with an option for an additional year.
