INSECURITY: IGP Commissions 59 Armoured Vehicles To Tackle Bandits

The Nigeria Police Force has boosted the morale of its men and capacity to fight bandits and related related crimes in the country by acquiring and commissioning of 59 Armoured Toyota Hilux vehicles .

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun said this developemnt is to take the battle to the den of the bandits and protect men of the tactical unit of the Nigeria Police.

Lately, men of the police and sister security agencies have become targets of bandits and terrorists, with the latest being the killing of about 11 policemen on their way to flush out the criminal elements in Katsina- Ala Local Government Area.

Commissioning the Vehicles at the  Force Headquarters, the Inspector General of Police said the operational assets represent determination of the force to move faster than the criminals, respond stronger than the threats, and assure citizens that the Police are not overwhelmed

The IGP said each Hilux was purpose-built for high-risk operation, armoured against hostile fire, equipped for mobility across diverse terrains, and designed for durability as well as  provide men of the tactical units the protection and speed they need to dominate the field. 

He assured the men of the police, especially the Tactical Unit that the government has the best of intentions for them and would not allow criminal elements to cow them or the public.
