Sahara Reporters has confirmed that the development followed Yusuf’s recent visit to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he met with President Bola Tinubu.
Sources suggested ongoing negotiations regarding Yusuf’s possible defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including his demands for a 2027 governorship ticket and ministerial nominations for the state requests that have reportedly caused tensions within the APC.
Reacting to the unfolding political drama, former Kano State Governor and Kwankwasiyya movement leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, criticized alleged practices pressuring local officials to publicly declare political loyalty. Kwankwaso described such actions as unacceptable and divisive.
