Golden Eaglets ended their campaign at the WAFU B U17 tournament in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’ Ivoire by winning the bronze medal.
The team defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 in the third – place game played on Friday.
The Eaglets goals were scored in the second half of the cagey affair after the first half had ended goalless.
Determined not to return home empty, the Eaglets fought hard and took the battle to the Burkinabes and one of such efforts paid off in the 50th minute from Ahmed Yusuf whose powerful low drive from outside the box found rhe back of the net.
Substitute Famous Mole added gloss and beauty to the win in 75th minute to take the match beyond Burkina Faso after he collected a defence – splitting pass from Paul Ugwu to score the second goal.
The team, that will depart Cote d’ Ivoire on Saturday to return home, will for the second successive time miss out on AFCON 2026 .
