The three tiers of government shared a total sum of N2.225trn as revenue for August 2025, at Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting held in Abuja.
The N2.225trn total distributable revenue comprised distributable statutory revenue of N1.478trn , distributable Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N672.903 billion, Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) revenue of ₦32.338 billion ,and the Exchange Difference N41.284 billion.
A communiqué issued by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) shows that total gross revenue of N3.635trn was available in the month of August 2025. However, total deduction for cost of collection was N124.839 billion while total transfers, interventions, refunds and savings was N1.285trn.
Gross revenue of N722.619 billion was available from the Value Added Tax (VAT) in August 2025 as against ₦687.940 billion distributed in the preceeding month , resulting in an increase of ₦34.679 billion .
From the N1.478trn total distributable revenue, the Federal Government received total sum of N684.462 billion and the State Governments received total sum of N347.168 billion
The Local government Council received N267.652 billion, while the sum of N179.311 billion (13% of mineral revenue) was shared to the benefiting State as derivation revenue.
The Federal Government received N100.935 billion, the State Governments received N336.452 billion and the Local Government Councils received N235.516 billion from the N672.903bn distributable Value Added Tax,VAT.
From the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) of N32.338bn the Federal Governemnt received N4.851 billion, the State Governments received N16.169 billion and the Local Government Councils N11.318 billion.
And from the N41.284 billion Exchange Difference, the Federal Government received N19.799 billion and the State Governments received N10.042 billion.
The Local Government Councils received N7.742 billion, while the sum of ₦3.701 billion (13% of mineral revenue) was shared to the benefiting States as derivation revenue.
In August 2025, The Gross Statutory Revenue of N2.838trn received which is lower than the sum of ₦3.070trn received in the previous month by ₦231.913 billion.
Oil & Gas Royalty,Value Added Tax (VAT) and CET Levies increased significantly while Petroleum profit Tax (PPT),Import Duty, Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL),Companies Income Tax (CIT) and Excise Duty recorded decreases.
