Favour Ashe Transfers Allegiance From Nigeria To Qatar

Favour Ashe is set to dump Nigeria for greeener pasture citing poor welfare for his reasons for switching allegiance.

He joins sprinter, Favour Ofili who last year also dumped Nigeria for Turkey equally citing shabby treatment from managers of the sport and the country in general.

Ashe currently is Nigeria’s 7th fastest man in history with his Personal Best (PB) of 9.94s over 100m.

Ashe said he was not treated properly at the 2025 National Sports Festival, adding that those managing Athletics in Nigeria showed no human feeling.

He also stated that returning his career to Nigeria was a setback, explaining that he struggled to train due to substandard track facilities and, having completed his studies in the United States, could no longer access college training facilities.

Ashe revealed he has been in Qatar for the past 5 months and was surprised by the number of young Nigerian athletes training there.

He said “I am very sure we will form a formidable 4x100m relay team for Qatar,” .

His switch has not yet been approved by World Athletics, and he will be required to observe a three-year waiting period from his last representation of Nigeria.

He is expected to become eligible to compete for Qatar after 2027.
