DR Congo, River Between Super Eagles And 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Super Eagles will on Sunday at the Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium, Rabat Mocrocco face DR Congo in the final play off of the 2026 FIFA World Cup holding in Mexico, Canada and United States of America.

The Super Eagles Defeated Gabon 4-1 in one of the semi final of the play off to book their ticket to the final, DR Congo on the other hand defeated Cameroon 1-0 to qualify for the final.

The winner of the final play off will fly Africa’s ticket at the Inter continental final in Mexico, where a six team tournament will be organised for different Confederations and two winners will emerge to join the World Cup train.

Super Eagles Captain, William Troost-Ekong has promised that the boys will do everything to pick the continent’s sole ticket to the intercontinental tournament.

The team overcame an initial set back of skipping training last week before facing Gabon and Ekong has assured that the team will fight like wounded Lions to secure the ticket to the intercontinental play off.

CAF Clears Ndidi Against DR Congo

Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is eligible to feature in Sunday’s crucial World Cup playoff showdown against DR Congo. 

The clarification comes after concerns arose over the yellow card Ndidi received during the group stage of the World Cup qualifiers, which initially raised fears that he would be suspended for the decisive tie.

CAF stated that cautions accumulated during the qualifiers do not carry over into the playoffs, meaning only players with confirmed suspensions are barred from participation.

The development comes as a major boost for the Nigerian team, with Ndidi expected to play a vital role in the midfield as the Super Eagles push for a World Cup ticket.

In the emantime, Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed will officiate Nigeria versus Congo Kinshasa FIFA/CAF World Cup play-off final this Sunday.

On VAR duties: will be  Lahlou Benbraham (Algeria) and Haitham Guirat (Tunisia)
