…Attom Foundation Targets 20,000 Girl-child Beneficiaries,
…50 Public Schools



Barcelona Legend, Gaizka Mendieta has assured fans coming to watch Barcelona Legends against Africa Legends of exciting time and fun memories on Saturday.
Mendieta said he was honoured to be in Nigeria and thanked the organisers for making it possible for him and other legends to visit Nigeria for the Champions Cup match .
The former Spanish international was speaking on Friday at a world press conference in Abuja put together by Attom Foundation heralding the Champions Cup match coming up on Saturday, October 25 between Africa’s legends and Barcelona legends at the MKO Abiola Stadium.
The Bilbao born Spaniard described making his debut in professional football as the key moment of his career ‘ as it represents all your dreams of making it in football’
Former Nigerian International Dele Aiyenugba said he was happy to be part of the match, as it would avord him the opportunity of seeing some of the players he had watched before on television.
Aiyenugba also promised fans of an evening of fun given the quality of players coming for the match.
Earlier the General Manager of Transcorp Hilton, who are partnering with Attom Foundation said he was excited about the match as it gives them the opportunity to local communitiesgiven the super stars coming for the match and predicted a scoreline of 3-3.
On why they have been involved in this event, the Chief Medical Consultant of Attoh Foundation, Zainab Mohammed said they are motivated by vision to focus on people.
‘This is the second edition of the Champions Cup match.Last year we focused on people with Cataract and touched the lives of 5000 people’
Mohammed said ‘This year, our focus is on the mental health of the girl-child between the ages of 10-18, and we are targeting 20,000 school girls from 50 public schools in undeserved areas’
‘We intend to train two teachers from these schools,volunteer health workers ,start a club to teach these young girls what to do when it comes to the menses’
The Attom Foundation Chief Medical Consultant pointed out that they want to end stigmatization of the girl-child,and keep them in school and not shy away from school because of their menses’
‘We will provide them with disposable sanitary products and teach them how to use it so they can over overcome the stigma and staying away from school, and this match is uniting the leegnds to keep the girl-child learning.’
Some of the players expected at the Champions Cup match on Saturday include Gaizka Mendieta, Ronaldinho, Ludovic Giuly,Javier Saviola,Jesus Angoy, Samuel Okunowo, while some of the Africa leegnds are Emmanuel Adebayor, Hadji Diouf, and Austin Jay Jay Okocha.
