The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reaffirmed its confidence in Morocco as the host nation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, despite the recent unrest in the country..
In recent days, Moroccan citizens have staged protests over the government’s heavy investment in sports infrastructure, which they claim comes at the expense of other key sectors.
Speaking during the CAF Congress held in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday, CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe addressed the situation and reiterated the body’s unwavering support for Morocco.
Motsepe stated “Yes, we discussed this. For me, our position is clear Morocco is Plan A, Morocco is Plan B, and Morocco is Plan C. We are absolutely confident,” .
He further assured that CAF would continue to collaborate with the Moroccan government and its people to ensure a historic and successful tournament.
The 2025 AFCON is scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
