APM Vows To Resist Rigging, Says 2027 Election Must Follow Electoral Act

The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, has vowed to resist any attempt to rig the 2027 presidential election, saying the contest must be conducted in accordance with the Electoral Act.

Speaking during the inauguration of the party’s National Campaign Management Committee in Abuja, APM Vice-Presidential Candidate, Lawal Daura, said politicians seeking shortcuts to secure votes should expect resistance from the party.

Daura said the party would focus on canvassing for votes by presenting its programmes and qualities to Nigerians, rather than relying on electoral manipulation.

He warned that those planning to rig the election would have a “surprise” waiting for them, stressing that the party would ensure that the electoral process is conducted according to the law.

The APM campaign is seeking to mobilise support for its presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde, whom the party says represents its proposed agenda to “Reset Nigeria.”

Earlier, the Director-General of the campaign council, Felix Hassan Hyat, called on Nigerians, particularly young people, to reject political choices based on religious, ethnic or regional sentiments and take responsibility for determining the country’s future.

The APM campaign council says its focus is on mobilising Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
