Sokoto State Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy Bashar Kwabo has formally presented the National Honour of Blueprint Good Governance award to Sokoto Governor at Government House
Following the earlier recognition of the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, with the Blueprint Newspaper 2025 Good Governance, Institutional Renewal and Sustainable Development Award, the prestigious honour has been formally presented to the Governor at the Sokoto State Government House.
The award was collected on behalf of His Excellency the Governor by the Honourable Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Bashar Ummarun Kwabo A.A, at the Blueprint award ceremony in Abuja.
Hon. Kwabo subsequently presented the award to His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto on Friday, 4th September 2026, at the Sokoto State Government House.
The recognition acknowledges the Governor’s efforts since assuming office on 29th May 2023, particularly in strengthening public institutions, promoting transparency and efficiency, and advancing sustainable development through the administration’s 9-Point Smart Agenda.
Among the key interventions highlighted are investments in road infrastructure, water supply, healthcare, education and agriculture, as well as measures to strengthen public service delivery and security across the State.
The administration has recruited 3,000 personnel into the State Civil Service, established the Sokoto State Community Corps, and enhanced welfare support for security personnel.
In the health sector, the government has also approved the recruitment of 2,440 Community Health Extension Workers, with 10 workers for each of the State’s 244 wards, with the recruitment process at an advanced stage.
The Blueprint recognition adds to Governor Aliyu’s earlier Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year 2024 Award and places him among distinguished Nigerian leaders recognised for their contributions to good governance and sustainable development.
The Sokoto State Government appreciates Blueprint Newspaper for the recognition and considers the honour an acknowledgement of the administration’s continuing efforts to strengthen governance and improve the wellbeing of the people.
The Government also commends the Honourable Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Bashar Ummarun Kwabo A.A, for representing His Excellency at the national award ceremony, receiving the honour on his behalf, and formally presenting it to the Governor at Government House.
