Podium Performance Committee Chair Hails Teenage Sensation For Gold Winning Outing



Olympian and Chairman of the Podium Performance Committee, Yusuf Alli, has showered praises on Team Nigeria’s 4x400m mixed relay team following their remarkable gold medal victory at the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championship in Accra, Ghana.

Speaking after the thrilling performance, Alli commended the entire mixed relay quartet for their determination, composure, and outstanding execution on the track, describing their victory as a strong statement of Nigeria’s growing dominance in African athletics.

The former long jump star reserved special praise for teenage sensation, Toheebat Adebisi Jimoh, whose performance continues to attract attention both within and outside the continent.

According to Alli, the young athlete displayed uncommon confidence, maturity, and mental strength despite competing on one of the biggest stages in African athletics.

Alli said “All credit must go to the athletes and coaches for the incredible job they are doing. Winning gold at this level is never easy, but what impressed me most was the confidence and maturity shown by young Toheebat Adebisi Jimoh. For a teenager to perform with such composure on a stage like the African Championship speaks volumes about her future,” .

He further noted that the emergence of talented young athletes is a positive sign for the future of Nigerian athletics, stressing that the country is gradually building a new generation capable of dominating global competitions in the coming years.

According to him, performances by youngsters like Toheebat at both the recent World Relays and the ongoing African Championship in Ghana prove that Nigeria’s athletics future remains bright.

He added “The future of Nigerian athletics lies in the youth, and that is exactly what Toheebat and several others have shown from the World Relays to this championship in Accra. They are proving that Nigeria still possesses enormous talent capable of competing with the very best in the world,” .

Nigeria’s victory in the 4x400m mixed relay has further boosted the country’s medal hopes at the championship as Team Nigeria continues to impress with strong performances across several events in Accra.
