The more Nigerians try to grapple with the direction of the present government in leading the country to the promised Land, the more disturbing developments rubbish their claims of accomplishments.

While Nigerians continue to lament the growing insecurity across the country, despite the huge amount of money budgeted yearly for defence and security, the more indifferent the government becomes.
The government of the day keeps claiming doing so much more to end insecurity, whereas the reality on ground speaks otherwise, with the latest being the United States warning her Embassy staff in Abuja to leave, and also calling on US Citizens not to travel to 23 states of the country.
This latest advisory from the government is a development that should give patriotic Nigerians cause for serious concern, and reinforces the position that the government is playing politics with the lives of Nigerians.
The United States Department of State, through the US Mission in Nigeria, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, re-affirmed Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Nigeria, and issued a specific “Do Not Travel” warning for 23 states, including Abuja, due to deteriorating security.
Specifically, the states listed in the ‘Do Not Travel’ advisory are:
Borno, Jigawa, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Taraba, Yobe, northern Adamawa states due to terrorism, crime, and kidnapping, Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara states due to unrest, crime, and kidnapping.
Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Enugu, Imo, and Rivers states (with the exception of Port Harcourt) due to crime, kidnapping, and unrest.
The Department of State authorised non-emergency U.S. government employees and U.S. government employee family ES members to leave U.S. Embassy Abuja due to the deteriorating security situation.
