The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced plans to honour Plateau and Benue State Governors Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and Rev,Father Hyacinth Alia respectively for their contributions to sports development and grassroots football in the country.
VDCInsights reports that the two governors and the Commissioner for Local Government in Kaduna State, Sadiq Mamman Lagos are to be recognized at an event which would be held simultaneously with the NNL/Prostar/Sportlight hub monthly award inc Abuja.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 30, 2026, in Abuja.
According to NNL, the recognition is aimed at celebrating leaders who have demonstrated strong commitment to the growth of football, particularly at the grassroots level, through infrastructure development, youth engagement, and policy support.
The event will also feature the presentation of monthly player awards, highlighting outstanding performances across the Nigeria National League.
Sports stakeholders, club officials, and football enthusiasts are expected to attend the ceremony, which promises to be a gathering of key figures in Nigerian football.
Organisers say the initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between government institutions and sports bodies in driving sustainable development in the sector.
