NMDPRA Wins Football Gold, As NLNG Emerge Champions Of 20th Oil & Gas Games

Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA defeated ND Western by a lone goal in the final of the football event on Saturday to win the gold.

The match which was one of the highlights of the final day of the Nigerian Oil and Gas games played at the mainbowl of the MKO Abiola Stadium was watched by a capacity crowd.

The first half had ended goalless with both sides not creating clear cut chances in the game.

The second half however came alive with both sides desperate for a goal and being cheered by the crowd, NMDPRA pressed for the curtain-raiser and in a moment of magic, a pull out from defence of ND Western was vollyed home for the only goal of the match.

Earlier in the third place game, Oando defeated NNPC 5-3 on penalties after the match had ended goalless to win the bronze.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) emerged overall champions of the 20th edition of the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG), with a total of 52 medals.

NLNG’s 52 medals comprised 20 gold, 16 silver and 16 bronze while defending champions, Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), finished second with 49 medals — 14 gold, 15 silver and 20 bronze.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) claimed third position with 18 medals, including five gold and eight silver and 5 bronze.

TotalEnergies finished fourth with 15 medals, made up of five gold and 10 bronze.

While Renaissance, Oando, Seplat Energy, PTI, NUPRC and ND Western completed the top 10 positions.
