The Super Eagles are expected to start receiving their outstanding bonuses and allowances at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations from today.

The Minister of State.Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite who disclosed this via her verified X handle said the processes being put in place will ensure a seamless payment of their entitlements going forward.
She however regretted what many football enthusiasts have described as disgraceful for a country like Nigeria having to be in the news over bonus row every time there is a major competition.
The news of the Super Eagles boycotting training over unpaid allowances broke as rumour, the authorities tried to patch things with denials.
From denials, half truths and name calling, the truth has finally been exposed that the team truly boycotted training over outstanding entitlements owed them.
For the second time in less than a month, the players are boycotting trainings over indebtedness and yet this wont be the last time.
Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite has finally admitted that the governemnt was working to offset all outstanding entitlements due the players.
Below is her submission, which not many find exciting or welcoming at all, as the daamge has been done distracting the players from their focus at AFCON.
“I am pleased to provide an update on the administrative progress regarding the match bonuses for our national team at AFCON 2025.
The Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have successfully streamlined the foreign exchange processing to ensure our players are rewarded without further delay.
Going forward, the process will be fully streamlined to ensure faster, more predictable disbursements aligned with international best practice.
Here is the current progress: •
=Funding: All group-stage bonuses were fully released and have now cleared the necessary regulatory stages. •
=Acceleration: We have implemented a fast-track conversion process to move funds into foreign currency, honouring the players’ preferences. •
=Disbursement: The final transfers to domiciliary accounts are currently in flight.
Players can expect these funds to reflect starting today or tomorrow. Our focus remains entirely on supporting the team’s welfare so they can maintain their incredible momentum in the knockout rounds.
We move forward with one goal: Bringing the trophy home! #SuperEagles #AFCON2025 #NigeriaProgress #FinancingGreatness
