“The Katsina State Government on Monday, July 14, 2025, announced a shift in the burial arrangement of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, who announced the new burial arrangement now scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, said the date was based on the outcome of consultations with members of the family and close associates of the late president in London.

Radda told journalists at a press briefing in Katsina that it was agreed, after wide consultations with the late president’s family and close associates in London, that the remains of the former leader will arrive in Katsina tomorrow, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, by 12 noon.

The governor further disclosed that the burial will take place in Daura, the hometown of the late former president, by 2:00 p.m. the same day.

Governor Radda expressed deep condolences on behalf of himself, the government, and the people of Katsina State to the family of the late former president and all Nigerians mourning the loss of the national icon.

He said, “We pray Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest and reward him with Aljannatul Firdaus.

“We also condole His Excellency, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the passing of his predecessor. May Allah give us the strength to bear this great loss,” he prayed.

A statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Katsina State Governor, said, The State Government is coordinating with federal authorities and the family to ensure a befitting and dignified farewell for the late elder statesman.”
