Employees’ Compensation Scheme: NSITF Empowers Nineteen Beneficiaries 

The Management of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund’s (NSITF) has  empowered Nineteen Beneficiaries in fulfilment of its mandate of providing social protection for Nigerian workers.

The financial assistance to the nineteen beneficiaries was done at the NSITF mainland office in Lagos under the vocational rehabilitation programme of the Employees’ Compensation Scheme 

Managing Director and Chief Executive of the NSITF, Oluwaseun Faleye said the vocational rehabilitation for injured workers was provided for in the Employees’ Compensation Act  of 2010. 

The Managing Director  who was represented at the event  by the General Manager, Claims and Compensation NSITF, Nkiru Ede-Ogunnaike hinted that the programme involved three phases of Reorientation, vocational training, and empowerment with startup tools.

The NSITF Boss stated that the event was a celebration of “courage, resilience, and the power of second chances,” adding that it would soon go nation-wide to ensure other Nigerian workers who lost abilities to continue working due to injuries or disabilities are given new leases of life.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Taiwo Kosoko who was trained in poultry farming and empowered to set up, thanked the management of NSITF for their support and expressed hope for more support that would ensure their lives are reshaped for the better.
